Built by people who came from construction
Our team spent years on job sites. We know what a missed service visit or an empty paper roll does to a crew, and how much time a superintendent loses chasing a vendor. Prairie Dog was built around three things contractors care about: clean units, a schedule you can count on, and someone who answers the phone.
How many toilets does a job site need?
OSHA's construction standard (29 CFR 1926.51) sets the minimum. Most contractors go above it so crews aren't waiting in line, especially on longer shifts.
| Workers on site | OSHA minimum | Recommended (40 hrs/week) | Recommended (50+ hrs/week) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 | 1 | 1 | 1 |
| 10 | 1 | 1 | 2 |
| 20 | 1 | 2 | 3 |
| 30 | 1 | 3 | 4 |
| 50 | 2 | 5 | 7 |
| 75 | 2 | 8 | 10 |
| 100 | 3 | 10 | 13 |
Recommended counts follow the common industry guideline of one unit per ten workers per 40-hour week with weekly service. Read the full OSHA portable toilet requirements.

Frequently asked questions
How many porta potties does OSHA require on a construction site?
Under 29 CFR 1926.51, a site with 20 or fewer employees needs at least one toilet. Sites with 20 or more need one toilet seat and one urinal per 40 workers, and sites with 200 or more need one toilet seat and one urinal per 50 workers.
How often should job-site toilets be serviced?
Weekly service is standard for a typical crew working 40 hours. If units are used heavily, by large crews or 50+ hour weeks, twice-weekly service keeps them clean and usable.
Can you move units as the project progresses?
Yes. Call dispatch when your site layout changes and we'll relocate units to where your crews are working.
Do construction sites need handwashing stations?
OSHA requires adequate washing facilities for workers applying paints, coatings, herbicides or insecticides, or doing other work where contaminants may be harmful. Many contractors add handwash stations to every site.
